You are never too old for anything in life!

Image
Stepping into new shoes seems easy, but if it has a heel height which you are not use to, then the journey might get tough... but its not impossible if you try!! I love challenges and this was one amongst that. Its been 12 years to my post graduation and getting into college after such a long time, managing family, kids ( a super active toddler) along with studies has been the biggest challenge till date for me. I am glad to have been able to successfully finish it. Thanks to my life partner without whom this wouldn’t have been a success!  An year ago, when I walked into National College of Ireland, I was nervous and excited at the same time about taking this huge step and starting my career in a new field. It was a final goodbye to the field that I worked for almost a decade. I am glad to have ended my stint with with one of the best organisations in the field of Journalism. Working with BBC in London was a dream come true for me. I really cherish the  experience, knowledge and friend

Is India’s moral compass posing a risk to people’s right to privacy?

Where the entire world is rejoicing the freedom of 21 st century, it’s hard to believe that there are places on this earth where, there still exists an ever-present patriarchy that frowns on women engaging in pre-marital relationships. You are looked down upon if you wear revealing clothes or if you hang out with boys. In most parts of India there’s a big list of other such offenses against decency and good taste. I feel lucky that even being born and brought up in the same society; never had to face all these. I still remember talking about my crushes to my mom and sister, though accept, I never shared these with my dad. However still he always tried his best to be a good friend, a supportive and a caring father and he indeed is. Our dad often chatted with me and my sister about the kind of a guy we would prefer to get married to. We were never imposed anything, whether it’s our marriage, our career or the way we dress up. And both of us are happily married today. Who a

Indian Diaspora and its recognition in Britain!

Image
We all crave recognition, whether it's for ourselves or for the nation to which we belong. With the UK general elections having recently concluded, we have something to be proud of: the record number of Indian-origin candidates elected to British Parliament. While the 2010 elections saw seven Indians making it to the Commons, this year no fewer than 10 have managed to grab seats. The victory was probably as much of a surprise to Prime Minister David Cameron as it was to everyone else - after all, the opinion polls showed that the Conservative Party would win by a margin from Labour. However, they won 331 out of the total 650 seats, giving them a slender majority. The UK elections grabbed headlines the world over, and for me it was all a bit more special as I cast my vote too. It feels great to see how Indian-origin people are climbing the top position in the British political hierarchy. Even better it is an Indian woman who is holding a top position in the Cabinet. Pr

A mother knows it best!

So finally almost after one and a half years , I am back on my blog jotting down my thoughts about the thing that has kept me away from my dear blog ;) The best feeling on this earth of being a mommy dear and the worst when someone tells you how you can be a better mommy ;) Let me introduce the new me :) I am a mother of a two year old darling daughter... yes a mommy now ;). so my life no more revolves around the political stories of a newsroom...ok so here I am sharing the details about the field I belong to..or I should say the career where I gave almost five years of my life before being a Mommy :P  This time its all about the life that has kept me busy apart from being the coochiee coo couples for the people who know me and my hubby ;). Its the motherhood that I am enjoying the best at the moment :) I have kept the tiny being in my womb for 9 months, and have been nurturing her in the best possible way. We start worrying about these tiny beings from the time we get a p

I support development !

A regime, an established order, is rarely overthrown by a revolutionary movement; usually a regime collapses of its own weakness and corruption and then a revolutionary movement enters among the ruins and takes over the powers that have become vacant....  a saying by  Walter Lippman.  This is the real picture that we are watching right now. Every Indian citizen wants India to be a corruption free nation. We want a nation where we can live happily with peace and security.  If whatever I feel is right then I wonder why is there such a hulaboo if a common man is trying to change the picture of this corrupt government. We all  dream of a developed and a corruption free nation. Some support BJP some Congress.....both the parties have already ruled our nation one by one. And we know how India has developed in their regime. I don't support any party...I support development...I cannot vote as I don't live in India...but I  wish my motherland to be a secure and developed nation.

Take up the cudgels to stand by your rights!

There's always a debacle over the right vs wrong in Indian constituency. This time it all started with the arrest of 2 girls for crticising Maharashtra bandh on demise of Bala Saheb Thackeray. We say that we are the only democratic country in this world. But where does the democracy lies... If one doesn't has the right to express his or her views ?  And punishing someone over expression of thoughts is it right? This has not been seen for the first time in India. Few months ago  Kolkata's professor Ambikesh Mahapatra was also put behind bars for hurting Bengal's Mamata Didi's emotions by forwarding her cartoon through e-mail.  At times I wonder if expression of thought is such a crime then we should have hanged all those corrupt netas of our country whose mindsets never match with the mango people of this society as the 'aam aadmi' hardly ever agrees with their thoughts. If these so called 'netas' can have the  right to put innocent behind bars

Hospitality in foreign land!

Image
Foreign land is as beautiful as its people. I always knew that people in outside country are full of good etiquette, but never knew that they are full of generosity and courteousness. After spending my 'Honeymoon in Cornwall'  I realized why India is still on its way to reach heights. I won't deny that nothing can ever take the place of India in my heart. Even after visiting a beautiful place like London, my heart still longs for my birth place 'India'. I have stayed at few places outside my den in India too but I agree have never seen so much generosity in hoteliers ever. One can hardly see people on roads interacting here with strangers or neighbors chit chatting with each other. But once you are their guest, you will feel so glad to see their hospitality. No doubt that India is a land of diversity with so many cultures engraved in its attire, but still when we talk about the good etiquette, its western countries that are running way ahead than us. I
