A tale of a young lady

I remember the time,I was sitting in the balcony remniscing about the party that ended a day before,I heard some one speaking in a soft innocent voice. I came through the balcony to see who was that lady...A young lady with bright eyes, long hair, in a beautiful light green suit, asking my mama to give her a job.
My mother is a social worker, She has a NGO which works for women upliftment, she also works as as a vice principal in a school. She is buzy most of the times. She required a caretaker for our family and then there was Lalita, No not the protagonist of Gurinder Chaddha's movie bride and prej-udice, but the protagonist of her own destiny written story.
My heart ponders with grief to see, that people like her are still happy no matter, she goes through lot of pain daily. She is a young beautiful lady who belongs to a conservative poor family of Aasam. She married the man of her choice and then there was she living her life without a shelter on her head, fighting with the vows of destiny.
She really use to work veryy hard, getting up at 4 am and closing her eyes at 1am. How could one sleep for just 3hrs after working so hard? My mom asked her why she works so hard? she said with tears in her eyes.." madam my husband is in jail in a murdercase, I need to collect money for court and lawyers,It's very expensive to hire lawyers,I can even work without sleeping, I just want my husband back,so that I can live my life happily again,"
Mom was shocked to hear that. She works for woman upliftment, she arranged lawyers for her husband bail order. The hearing went on for 7 years-
Now when he is back after a long time, she can manage to smile with him. She is satisfied. She calls herself happy. But is she?
Almost daily she cries once, when asked she said, she was beaten by her husband.
Every time when her man was not with her, I saw her recollecting the memories from shatterd yards of memory lane. I wonder how one can forget the pain, his wife had to go through, to get him out of Jail.
Is women still weak in this 21st century? When women like Sunita William has touched the sky, and others are on their way.
Lalita still says- my husband, can do whatever he wants. Its ok I know he loves me.
Today when women folks are leading men in every field, still there are many who live their life on the edges, making themselves the weak section of the society.
