13 September- A black day

After Jaipur, Bangalore, Ahemdabad, it was Delhi in the cross hairs. Saturday's blast have been the most terrifying so far, not for the no. of people killed and injured, but how how close it has come to us.
I remember, two weeks before the explosion, I had stood at the same bus stop, where one of the bombs later went off. What if the blast had taken place that day. Would I still be writing about it? Or would I have been read about?
The blast were like a bolt from the blue. It was heart rending to see the wounded and the grieving people on the news channels. It wasn't necessary to have known any of the victims. The tears kept rolling down my cheeks.

The targets on Saturday evening included symbols of the emerging, everyday India. An upscale market, a movie theatre, a sprawling park, the popular hub at India gate. Saturday evening for most people, is to rejuvenate after a tiring week. But this time the weekend revelry turned into tragedy.
It now transpires that Delhi was in the cross hairs terrorists all along and that was known to the security agencies.

Then were the politicians sleeping or were they waiting for the tragedy to happen?
Will this heal the wounds of the people who lost their loved ones?
How come there is no fear among the terrorists? Do restrictive laws combat the terrorist threat or do they compound it?
Political parties continue to wrangle endlessly about the issue. But are we out with any solution yet? Terrorism is a growing concern for the people. But there seems no end to despair.
