Delhi Winters- the party season for rich, and the mourning season for poor !

Some one has said right- "There is no coming to consciousness without pain".
Until and unless we feel it, we cant judge. It feels proud to be a part of India's Capital Delhi. The place is known for its chilly winter. One can see people Shivering from cold, their crumbling lips…Everyone is covered in woolens from head to toe...and still love to bask in winters glory..This is Delhi...! Some people love Delhi, because of its shivering climate and the foggy sky….! And there are some, who are left with nothing.. to save their lives, to save themselves from this …Winter.

Every morning there’s page 3 party news hogging the limelight in Delhi. Sometimes I wonder.. how can there be a birthday daily to call for such a huge bash. Most of the times, the party is celebrated without any reason. Or I should say.. Page 3 regulars don’t need a reason to show of their expensive assets..it just happens by chance in the name of a social cause at times. Especially

during winters, the so called big socialites are much found in page 3.But I wonder what kind of a social work they do??? When there are thousand of people dying on streets everyday.

A visit to Bhairo temple , near pragati maidan..left me with tears in my eyes. The devastated condition of poor lying on the side pavements of road, enwrapped in plastic sheets, warming themselves with the fire set from burning crap was enough to say… that life is really hard for those who have no one to take care of them. This is isn’t just the view of a particular area. One can find such a heart rending scenario of homeless fighting the bitter cold and apathy at various places in Delhi..

No doubt the beautiful weather comes along ample number of festivals to celebrate. But there’s no denial to the fact that winter is taking a toll on life of thousand people. Its not just people dying from the chill, the numbers of road accidents have also increased in past few days.

A thick cover of fog has made life difficult for the poor, homeless people in Delhi. Dozens of people have died in the sweeping cold wave in past few days. Most deaths so far have taken place among the homeless and elderly, but till yet, like every year..there has been no arrangement of shelters for the vulnerable.

Nice topic chosen by you. It is not very difficult for Govt. to find-out some easy solutions of these situations. Fist of all , these people should be shifted from all the temples, Gurudwars and all other places , where they are being presently found and a start should be made from one of the Metros ! before claiming india for its inclusion in the permanent membership in UNO and also to make a claim for a developed countries. For this a multi storyed building should be constucted in every corner of the city, in which minimum facilites of food, cloth,elctricity,water..., inclding education should be provided. There should be a board at every place, where they were found earlier be placed , diplaying the message that they have been shifted now to live a human life, if you want to give some donations , you can give it and it will reach to them 100%. If you don't believe you can go and enquire it (address). You wii be surprised to khow there are many people who are very much eager to do some welfare work specially some retired and old people.NGO's can also provide their services including govt.aid and wold bank helps. Retired poeple can also give their time in educating the chidrens . Some craft work can be given to dweller of these houses. Scout & guides , and other like institutions can also help. But one has to start first! Of course, it may be govt. Jaibind Kumar Singh
